The Newtown Disaster Recovery & Resilience Grant Opportunity supports nonprofit organizations delivering long-term recovery and resilience programs that benefit Newtown residents.
Funding for this opportunity is provided through the Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund and administered in partnership with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
This participatory grantmaking initiative is designed to ensure community voices help shape recovery investments, strengthen neighborhood resilience, and support long-term recovery efforts in Newtown.
The Newtown Business Council serves as the community engagement and facilitation partner, helping connect organizations, residents, and resources throughout the grantmaking process.
The Newtown Disaster Recovery Grant supports long-term recovery and resilience efforts focused on the Newtown community impacted by hurricanes and other disaster events.
This participatory grantmaking initiative is designed to ensure recovery funding is:
• Community-Centered
• Accessible
• Transparent
• Focused on Long-Term Recovery & Resilience
The fund invests in nonprofit organizations helping residents recover, rebuild, and strengthen community resilience throughout Newtown.
Priority areas may include:
• Home Repair & Housing Needs
• Case Management
• Legal Services
• Mental & Behavioral Health Support
• Hurricane Resilience Education
• Senior Recovery Support
• Temporary Housing Support
• Neighborhood Recovery Resources
Funding priorities are based on long-term disaster recovery needs identified within Newtown.
Organizations must:
• Be a registered 501(c)(3) public charity
• Serve the Newtown community
• Maintain an approved/current profile in The Giving Partner
Organizations without an active Giving Partner profile may work on completing their profile during the application process.
